Bonnie and Clyde + Alice's Restaurant

ARTHUR PENN - COMPARISON

Arthur Penn expresses himself as an auteur as he expresses gender stereotypes. He also starts to abolish the hays code and places the spectator alongside the 'antagonist' of the story.

We side with Arlo even though he commits wrongful acts. We sympathise with both protagonists within their stories; as Penn uses his cinematography in order to suture the spectator into viewing Arlo, Bonnie and Clyde as the protagonists coming against societies problems.

THEMES:

- Gender
- Conflict
- Freedom vs Order
- Power vs Weakness
